At Stratton & Stratton, situated at Churton Heath Farm, we rear and select only the finest traditional breed animals for our butchers shop. They are all reared outdoors, and are matured to provide succulent meats with a superior flavour.
We select Longhorn, Hereford and Aberdeen Angus from local farms and the Cheshire Wildlife Trust. Grazing on sites throughout Cheshire, they are fed on lush old-fashioned pastures, rich in a diversity of wild grasses and herbs. They are chosen for their superior flavour, slaughtered locally at Hewitts in Huxley and then hung for 28 days on the bone.
We produce rare breed Gloucester Old Spot Pork from our pigs on the farm. They are housed outdoors and are fed on traditional cereals and grass to provide wonderful pork, that is rich in flavour. From these pigs our Butcher’s produce a wonderful range of pork joints, sausages and our own home cured bacon – simply delicious!
We select Hebridean Lambs from the conservation grazing sites on the heathlands of Cheshire. These wonderful old fashioned lambs prefer a diet of herbs and other grasses, and produce a meat which is rich and full of flavour. When these are unavailable we choose locally produced lambs from the plains of Cheshire, which are matured for 10 days before being offered for sale.
